The Bloom Family Hebrew School at Emanuel Synagogue is a supplementary school that trains the young people of our congregation in the language and culture of the Jewish tradition and prepares them to become Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Hebrew School classes are held in the newly refurbished Education Wing at the synagogue on Wednesday afternoons and on Sunday mornings. Students in 5th grade and above receive additional one-on-one time with their teachers via video conferencing, focusing on bar/bat mitzvah preparation.

The Irene Jefferson Junior Congregation provides age-appropriate Shabbat morning services for children under the age of twelve. Services are run by enthusiastic and creative Hebrew school teachers, who have created engaging ways to bring children into the rhythms of Shabbat morning services. Students can expect song, stories, discussion, and joy during their Junior Congregation services.
There are two levels of Junior Congregation: -Gan Shabbat serves children under the age of seven. Your child/ren must be accompanied by an adult family member at all times during Gan Shabbat services. -Junior Congregation serves children between the ages of seven and eleven. Children do not require accompaniment by an adult family member. Services run concurrently with regular Shabbat morning services. |
We believe that our students also require social time and informal educational experiences. There are so many options available for our youth.
