HEBREW SCHOOL AT EMANUEL
The Bloom Family Hebrew School at Emanuel Synagogue is a supplementary program that trains the young people of our congregation in the language and culture of the Jewish tradition and prepares them to become Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Hebrew School classes are held at the synagogue on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday mornings, following the secular school calendar (including winter and spring breaks).
Students in 5th grade and above receive additional one-on-one time with their teachers during the week, focusing on Bar/Bat Mitzvah skills. By all measures, our Hebrew school program is an unqualified success. Our students lead services at Youth Group functions all over the world, and people keep saying: "You learned that in Oklahoma City?" We prepare our students for more than their Bar/Bat Mitzvah services. We prepare them to continue to read Torah and lead services all their lives. New this year, our Hebrew school now operates both in-person and online. All materials are available online, and most classes have both students attending in-person and students attending online. Our Hebrew school uses the Shalom Learning curriculum. |
